WASHINGTON, DC – Months after his initial nomination by President Trump, Sonny Perdue has been officially confirmed by the U.S. Senate as the new Secretary of Agriculture. The former Georgia Governor is expected to be sworn into the position today, though the White House has yet to confirm.
Perdue was confirmed after receiving a vote of 87 to 11 in his favor, according to USA Today. The confirmation comes a little over three months after his initial nomination, which was announced one day before President Trump’s inauguration.
