Wegmans Plans Major Expansion with New Openings in 2025 and Beyond
UNITED STATES - Wegmans is planning ambitious growth as it answers consumer calls for greater access to its stores, according to MSN. After successful openings earlier this year in Long Island and Lake Grove, New York—where eager shoppers lined up in droves—the retailer is set to launch locations in Maryland on June 25 and break into Connecticut for the first time on July 23.
But the momentum doesn’t stop there. The grocer has confirmed plans to plant roots in North Carolina and, after decades of requests, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 2026.

The company’s expansion comes as it modernizes its operations with technology upgrades, including a redesigned app and website that promise a seamless blend of in-store and online shopping. Grand openings continue to draw large crowds, thanks to the chain’s reputation for unique offerings. With each new store, thousands of employees are hired, and shoppers gain fresh options for their weekly hauls.
As the retailer sets its sights on new regions, it also signals a broader commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction in today’s competitive grocery landscape.
