Double Diamond Farms Expands Kingsville-Based Mini Cucumber Operations, Chris Mastronardi and Caitlyne Johns Discuss
KINGSVILLE, CA - Double Diamond Farms is expanding its beloved mini cucumber and cocktail cucumber lines in its Kingsville, Ontario, operations. To make production run smoothly, the company is also implementing a state-of-the-art automation packing system as we move into March.
"Double Diamond is positioned for continued growth this year, with not only our new 62-acre expansion but also with our expanding mini cucumber and cocktail cucumber programs,” Chris Mastronardi, CEO of Double Diamond, explains. “This is shaping up to be a productive and successful 2018 so far, and we’re excited to see how this new expansion will engage our customers and boost sales.”
The company will employ technology similar to its recent Leamington expansion, using grow lights, capturing and utilizing carbon dioxide to promote growth, and using energy curtains to insulate. In addition, Double Diamond has invested in a new packing line to increase productivity and bring its produce to more retailers with ease.
"Ultimately, our expansion on these commodities is consumer driven,” Caitlyne Johns, Procurement Manager tells me. “An increase in consumer demand has resulted in a need for more of our mini and cocktail cucumbers.”
Shipments of the products are available for North American retailers.
