WATSONVILLE, CA - It has been a joy to cover the successes and innovations of California Giant Berry Farms over the years. From its introduction of the Chef Invitational to the initial invigoration of the berry category itself, California Giant has become an industry name synonymous with quality and customer service.

Celebrating 40 years in the business, the berry supplier takes a look back at how far it’s come and where it wants to go.

“It is with great joy that we celebrate California Giant Berry Farms’ 40^th Anniversary with friends, family, and industry supporters,” Joe Barsi, President, told me. “Our anniversary party was a time of reflection, gratitude, and fun. One of the highlights of our celebration was the recognition of Bill Moncovich, California Giant Owner and Founder, who has dedicated an astounding 50 years to the berry industry. Bill's passion, dedication, and generosity have been instrumental in shaping our company's culture and success.”

The man of the hour, who founded the company in 1983, accepted this recognition with his trademark humility.

"No man is an island, and I came a long way with a lot of people," Moncovich said, addressing the crowd. "This is because of the employees, the growers, and the customers [...] We always had fun. Pat [Riordan] and I laughed every day, and you all laughed with us."

The U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council (USHBC) was in attendance to recognize Moncovich for his service to the industry, as well as extend a resolution to the company for celebrating 40 years.

Elevated berry dishes adorned appetizer trays and cocktails featuring the company’s products could be seen across the celebration. An inflatable slide tempted kids—and me, let's be honest.

It was a celebration to remember—and a reminder to the industry that California Giant will continue to bring its trademark value and service.
