Chipotle Appoints New CEO Brian Niccol
DENVER, CO - In an effort to reshape its image and appeal to the social media generation, Chipotle Mexican Grill has appointed Brian Niccol as CEO and a member of the Board. Niccol, who previously served as CEO of Yum! Brands’ Taco Bell Division, will begin his tenure on March 5, 2018. During his time in his most recent position with Taco Bell, Niccol successfully elevated the brands image, a skill which will be highly-valued in his new position.
Chipotle Chairman, CEO, and Founder Steve Ells, who will become Executive Chairman, said in a recent press release, "Brian is a proven world-class executive, who will bring fresh energy and leadership to drive excellence across every aspect of our business. His expertise in digital technologies, restaurant operations, and branding make him a perfect fit for Chipotle as we seek to enhance our customer experience, drive sales growth, and make our brand more relevant. The Board is confident that Brian's passion and skill set ideally position him to make the bold moves needed to improve operations and take the company to the next level, all while remaining true to our purpose and the values that are essential to our customers."
Niccol, who began work with Taco Bell in 2011, served as President from 2013 to 2014, and finally as CEO beginning in 2015, has been praised as a social media-leader; he has propelled companies with his consumer focused brand innovations.
