Del Rey Avocado’s Expansion Leads to Adding Talent
FALLBROOK, CA - The new state-of-the-art facility in Vista, California, opened its doors with four top-notch ripening rooms, a highly efficient refrigerated storage, a large staging area for quicker truck loading, and an enthusiastic Operations Manager. The attention to detail shines through from the packing line placement down to the excellent restroom facilities in the waiting areas for drivers as Del Rey Avocado's commitment to great service extends throughout the entire distribution process. Months of searching have led Del Rey to Brent Portell, with over 11 years of cross-functional management expertise, in the hopes to maintain the highest levels of customer service in the industry.
“I was looking for a new challenge in my career, and tackling the challenges and opportunities associated with opening a new facility really appealed to me,” Portell reflected. “Best of all, I get to be on the ground floor of customer base expansion.”
Portell’s list of skills ranges from production, sales, business development, product procurement, and food safety. His repertoire certainly speaks for itself and makes him the perfect fit for the position.
“We could not be happier with our decision to hire Brent,” said President Bob Lucy. “He is the type of person that is not afraid to get his hands dirty and lend a hand when needed in order to meet our customers expectations.”
Portell’s eagerness to meet company standards has put him through a rigorous training regime. He’s immersed himself in the proven business practices from day one in Fallbrook, the company’s headquarters, and has spent a week in the new Vineland, New Jersey, facility.
Jessica Hunter, Vice President of Operations, commented, “The combination of his highly relevant industry experience, work ethic, enthusiasm, and education made Brent an ideal choice for our family owned company.”
