The Fresh Market and Feeding America Serve Up Over Eight Million Meals
GREENSBORO, NC - Over eight million meals have been provided to families facing hunger, and we have one special partnership to thank for that, as The Fresh Market teamed up with Feeding America® to provide approximately 5 million meals to food banks in local communities.
“We are so appreciative of our guests for their role in helping our local food banks feed our communities. It is amazing when we come together what we can accomplish,” said Jason Potter, President and CEO, The Fresh Market. “It’s truly touching to see how, collectively, we can make an impact to help reduce food insecurity.”
The Fresh Market held an in-store fundraising drive, through which the company raised $250,000 and matched the donation, raising nearly $510,000 to provide the meals, according to a press release. The company also followed up with a second major campaign during the holiday season. The grocer’s Holiday Round-Up campaign allowed shoppers to round their receipts to the nearest dollar to donate, and The Fresh Market matched up to $125,000 of those donations, resulting in over $700,000 raised.
Between the two campaigns, the company raised and donated a total of $825,828 to Feeding America, equaling over 8.25 million meals for families in need.
“We are grateful to The Fresh Market for helping provide nourishment to our neighbors,” said Casey Marsh, Chief Development Officer, Feeding America. “As the pandemic continues to impact the communities we serve, we commend The Fresh Market for their commitment to helping people facing hunger.”
In 2020 alone, The Fresh Market has raised nearly $1.6 million for Feeding America through these two campaigns, in addition to its Hot Dogs for Hunger, Tennessee Tornado Relief, and Louisiana Hurricane Relief fundraisers.
