Pacific Trellis' JAM Grapes Make a Splash with Consumers
LOS ANGELES, CA - Come on and slam, and welcome to the JAM! My favorite basketball/Looney Tunes film soundtrack had the right idea, because JAM is what’s hot right now—JAM grapes, that is. Due to outstanding consumer demand, Pacific Trellis is bringing back its JAM grapes, a new black seedless table grape variety from Brazil. JAM grapes were introduced in 2018 and were only available from October through January during its initial launch. Though the tears of JAM grape-less consumers were free flowing this spring, better times are here, with the announcement of the return of these craveable grapes.
“We saw good interest when we started talking to retailers late last fall. In order to ensure a good balance between quality and supply, we closely monitored availability—to confirm everything is exactly where we wanted it to be,” explained Josh Leichter, General Manager. “Very quickly, we were able to confirm that this grape fulfilled our expectations—and those of our retail partners—so we decided to bring them back as soon as possible.”
With an enthusiastic response from both consumers and retailers, JAM grapes will return to the produce aisle in May and June, corresponding with Brazil’s first semester harvest. Given that JAM grapes are a win-win for shoppers’ taste buds and retailers’ sales, Pacific Trellis has provided its customers with a variety of package options.
“For the current season we are adding a one pound clamshell as an option. It is the preferred pack style for high-margin grape varieties,” Leichter said.
According to the press release, JAM grapes will continue to be available in two pound clamshells as well as random weight bags.
