Red Sun Farms Employees Promote Health Initiative by Making a Donation in Support of Make-A-Wish® Southwestern Ontario
KINGSVILLE, ON – As Clarence once told George Bailey in on of my holiday favorites, It's A Wonderful Life, “Each man’s life touches so many other lives.” Now, Red Sun Farms is among the produce companies proving Clarence's words this holiday season. The greenhouse grower has donated $5,720 to Make-A-Wish Southwestern Ontario, a non-profit organization that helps to make wishes come true for children with life-threatening medical conditions. Much like Clarence’s words of wisdom, the action touches many lives with hope, strength, and joy this holiday season.
Efforts towards promoting healthy lifestyles within the company, while also giving back to the community, led Red Suns’ employees to collect the funds. The sales from $5 dollar produce-packed boxes for employees were designated for donation to the organization. Once the lead executives became aware of the team’s driven energies towards collecting the funds, they decided to step in with a little elf-like magic.
“I just thought it was such a great idea. I knew I had to do my part,” said Jim DiMenna, the company’s President. “The Make-A-Wish Foundation does so much for so many communities; I thought it was only right that I match every dollar raised.”
Since the inception of the idea, 570 produce boxes have been sold and the move seems to have brightened the company’s holiday spirit even more.
“I am most proud of our employees. They are truly the backbone of Red Sun Farms, and this initiative coincides directly with our core values as an organization,” said Carlos Visconti, COO.
'Tis the season to give back, and it's stories like these that make the produce industry a key part of that warm wish.
