Revol Greens Announces Growth in California and Minnesota, Names New CEO
OWATONNA, MN - Revol Greens, an up-and-coming greenhouse grower, has two expansions to announce. The grower recently announced the expansion of its Minnesota greenhouse from two to 10 acres, as well as additional members to its leadership team—including a new CEO, Mark Schulze.
“What an exciting time to join Revol Greens,” expressed Schulze. “We have big plans in store for both the near future and years ahead. Our greenhouse technology is truly revolutionary for the U.S. market. We’ve seen a great response from customers in Minnesota and California, and I’m thrilled to be able to bring our fresh and highly nutritious greens to more people nationwide.”
According to a press release, this Minnesota greenhouse is now one of the largest greenhouses in the States dedicated specifically to baby leaf lettuce. Revol Greens’ greenhouse expansion will thus quadruple year-round growing capacity, which will allow the greenhouse grower to branch out into new markets. With this growth, the company is also rolling out several new products over the coming months.
In California, Revol Greens is working on a 64-acre greenhouse in Tehachapi. Phase one of construction includes converting the first 16 acres and incorporating Revol’s advanced greenhouse technology. Leveraging a sustainable and controlled growing environment that is both energy efficient and uses 90 percent less water than traditionally grown greens, this is a unique offering in the region.
In order to keep up with this burst of growth, seven new senior leaders have been added to the team.
As CEO, Schulze brings more than 30 years of food and agriculture expertise to the role. He spent the majority of his career at Cargill holding a variety of leadership roles both nationally and globally. With a breadth of category experience managing multiple locations and supply chain activities, his background also includes significant experience in agricultural commodity investments and managing risk in capital markets. As CEO, Schulze hopes to deliver on the promise of the company’s growing footprint, staking a claim to open five facilities in five years.
Tom Thompson was also appointed as Vice President of Market Strategy. He previously advised clients across the produce industry from growers and shippers to seed breeders and processors on business strategy, marketing, and business development. He began his career at Target and then Robinson Fresh, during which he gained a diverse experience of leading retail and foodservice companies.
Additional new team members include:
- John Carkoski, General Manager, Minnesota
- Chad Ianneo, General Manager, California
- Yolanda Acevedo, Compliance and Food Safety Manager
- Carlos Cambero, Head Grower, California
- Wendy Swope, Senior Controller
- Mary Lou Corpus-Zamudio, HR Manager
“Our expansion in Minnesota and California is smoother and has been accelerated given that our core Sun Select leadership team remains intact with the transition,” concluded Chad Ianneo, GM of Revol Greens in California. “The past three months of uncertainty in our food system along with site development and customer conversations have only reinforced our vision of how we plan to reshape the lettuce category.”
