YAKIMA, WA - As a consumer and a trade writer, I can say that my favorite produce going out of season seems to put a damper on my shopping experience. “Our main focus at the show will be highlighting our summer-long apple and pear programs and our red D’anjou pears,” says Catherine Gipe-Stewart, Communications Manager. “Due to increased technology and strategic planning, we offer a year-long domestic organic apple and pear program and will have our core apple varieties through summer. We will also be providing Organic Granny Smith, Fuji, Gala, Pink Lady, Honeycrisp, and Organic Anjou into mid-May.”

As the heat begins to make an appearance here in the Northern Hemisphere, signaling the start of the summer, Superfresh will also be exhibiting its red and green Anjou pear programs. Each variety makes excellent additions to spring salads and desserts, and red pears are perfect for baking a grilling when backyard barbecues pick up again.

Superfresh’s organic pears and apples come in beautifully designed Superfresh Organics 2 lb pouch bags. Their stately purple color alludes to the premium products inside while making for eye-catching displays. The grower also offers bulk options for its products to meet any buyer’s needs.

“Superfresh Organics pouch bags have done extremely well,” Catherine explains. “We trialed them against another package with the same weight and variety, and the Superfresh Organics pouch did 2.5 times better in movement. We owe this significant difference to its convenience, aesthetic, and visibility of the fruit inside the bag.”

In terms of volume, Superfresh has retailers covered this year with enough organic apples and pears to keep shelves stocked.

“We have a promotable supply of domestic Superfresh Organics this summer, all grown in the Pacific Northwest. Superfresh is up from last year’s holdings, setting us apart from other companies across Washington State,” adds Catherine. “We also have promotable volumes of our core varieties, such as conventional and organic Honeycrisp, Pink Lady, Fuji, Gala, and Granny. Additionally, Superfresh will be increasing our volume of Autumn Glory®, which will now be available into June, and Cosmic Crisp®, available year-round.”

Complementing Superfresh’s organic apples and pears, the company will be showcasing its cherries, blueberries, apricots, and kiwi berries as well.
