The holiday weekend highlights for the United States included:

  • Sales by small and medium-sized businesses worldwide grew more than 20 percent on Black Friday year-over-year
  • Throughout the Turkey 5, Amazon.com customers ordered more than 180 million items.

According to a press release, groceries purchased at Whole Foods Market played a factor in these record-breaking sales, as Prime members purchased last-minute ingredients for Thanksgiving meals—such as lemons, celery, and onions—and prepared holiday meals numbering in the hundreds of thousands. Additionally, an all-time record number of turkeys were sold during this Thanksgiving season—the celery and onions obviously needed to frame a marvelous bird!
