RIO RICO, AZ - As we head into the homestretch of the holiday season, it is looking like steady markets for the multiple categories covered by Fresh Farms. I recently connected with Sales Representative Marco Serrano on how the winter harvest is going.

“Volumes remain light due to earlier weather in both the Florida and Mexico growing regions but overall quality has been outstanding mostly in part due to more temperate growing conditions. We expect conditions to remain the same through the first of the New Year,” Marco said.

There is much to look forward to in addition to crop conditions, with a new item joining Fresh Farms’ expanding portfolio.

“Fresh Farms is introducing shishito peppers for the upcoming season,” Marco shared excitedly. “We are currently growing green bell pepper, corn, and colored bells out of the state of Sinaloa, Mexico. We have expanded on all three commodities, with the biggest increase being green bell pepper.”

In addition to its Fresh Farms growth, the green bell peppers are meeting a market that has been steady in the high teens with volume expected to increase in January. The corn market has been really high with demand exceeding supplies, with more volume expected in January, while colored bells are expected to start late December with good prices and demand.

“These staple commodities tend to move well, but giving the consumer recipe ideas especially for grilling will highly increase sales,” Marco advised retailers. “All of these commodities are flavorful and healthy options with any meal.”

With promotable volumes expected mid-January for these dynamic categories, it is looking like an exciting start to 2023.
