IMMOKALEE, FL - A pivotal milestone is at play for Lipman Family Farms. The supplier has pulled back the curtain on the recent growth of its international footprint, as it has closed the deal on a 75-acre greenhouse facility in Jalisco, Mexico.

Darren Micelle, President of Value-Added Services, Lipman Family Farms“The purchase is part of our approach to better secure the supply of tomato and fresh vegetable production and fill in appropriate gaps between seasonal transition periods,” says Darren Micelle, President of Value-Added Services. “We look forward to seeing the impact this purchase will have in supporting both the East and West markets in North America.”

Jalisco has ideal climates to support Lipman’s full suite of tomatoes and fresh vegetables, and the facility’s proximity to one of the supplier’s main United States crossing docks in Edinburg, Texas, is a prime location for seamlessly importing produce. According to a press release, the new facility will further ensure reliable volume for Lipman’s greenhouse-grown lineup of products for the retail, foodservice, and fresh-cut segments beginning in 2023.

The purchase of this greenhouse makes Lipman vertically integrated in Mexico, continuing the company’s ongoing tradition of building out fresh vegetable supply services from the ground up.

“With over 70 years of experience in farming and now a strong team of greenhouse agronomists, fresh-cut processors, and food safety leaders in Mexico, we are set up very well to service our network out of Mexico,” Micelle continues. “Being a grower has always been the foundation of what we do, and we’re proud of our progress to strengthen the connection between the farmer and the consumer.”
