National Weather Service Sees a Slight Chance of Storms In Southern California Throughout the Week
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA - The National Weather Service (NWS) has predicted the possibility of showers and thunderstorms for the Los Angeles/Oxnard area.
According to a recent forecast, monsoonal moisture is coming through the Southern California region through the week, bringing a slight chance of storms primarily to the mountains, deserts and inland valleys.
“Continuing through the remainder of the week, the moisture will increase across the region and the main threat with thunderstorms will be brief moderate to heavy rainfall,” the report stated, cautioning anyone planning on outdoor events to keep a close eye on weather reports.
The system bringing the possible storms is coming from Northern Mexico and Arizona, which NWS spokesman Rich Thompson says the company’s computer model is forecasting to move toward the Los Angeles/Oxnard region.
“That's actually going to bring the possibility of showers and thunderstorms to the coastal and coastal valley areas," he said in a statement to KPCC.
For those in the area, keep on the lookout and take thunderstorm precautions when going out.
