LAKELAND, FL - The team at Publix is likely celebrating as the retailer was recognized on Fortune’s World’s Most Admired Companies list for 2024. The retailer ranked at No. 49, having been named on the list annually since 1996.

“At Publix, we pride ourselves in helping our communities and establishing a culture where we care for and respect our associates,” said Publix Director of Communications Maria Brous. “We’re honored to be named by Fortune as one of the most admired companies in the world.”

Placement is earned based on responses from thousands of professionals within each industry, a release detailed. Companies are rated on nine different criteria, from social responsibility to the ability to attract talented people.

Publix has been honored with this placement based on its dedication to taking care of its associates, its commitment to serving its communities, and its care for the environment.

As part of Publix’s commitment to associates, the company recently made an additional investment in its associates by enhancing paid time off. Employees also have company ownership and the retailer furthers this pride with its promote-from-within culture.

To serve its communities, alleviating hunger has been at the core of its charitable efforts. The retailer has run a hunger alleviation campaign twice a year to provide food items to local food banks. The company also purchased and donated $10 million in fresh produce in 2023 to Feeding America partner food banks.

On top of its associate and community efforts, Publix is dedicated to caring for the environment, collaborating with the Arbor Day Foundation to plant trees using a portion of proceeds from reusable bag sales.
