Stater Bros. Markets Names Rebecca Calvin Senior Vice President And Chief Marketing Officer; Pete Van Helden Comments



SAN BERNARDINO, CA - There’s nothing like a talented new leader to bring exciting growth opportunities to an organization, and a key transition is taking place for Stater Bros. Markets. Effective September 26, Rebecca Calvin will be taking on the role of Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. This appointment is set to follow the upcoming retirement of current Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Dennis McIntyre.

MarketsIn this newly appointed role, Calvin will be responsible for the retailer’s marketing efforts, including the Sales and Merchandising, Integrated Marketing, E-commerce, and Food Strategy and Innovation departments. As explained in a press release, she will also be responsible for strengthening Stater Bros.’ ability to meet the evolving needs of grocery shoppers in the diverse Southern California market through smart and effective product, pricing, and promotion strategies.

Calvin brings several years of grocery industry experience to the role, most recently holding the title of Senior Vice President and Chief Merchandising Officer at The Save Mart Companies. In this position, Calvin oversaw merchandising, space planning, pricing and promotion execution, and the grocer’s private label program.

Prior to joining The Save Mart Companies team, Calvin began her career as a Category Buyer with Daymon Worldwide. She also served as Vice President of Grocery, Frozen, and Dairy at Mariano’s before continuing on to merchandising and category management roles in the Kroger family of companies.

Calvin graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology with a Minor in Business Administration and is a graduate of the Cornell University Food Executive Program. She has earned a Six Sigma Green Belt Certification and currently serves on the Western Association of Food Chains (WAFC) Board of Directors.
