MILL VALLEY, CA - One of the things I love most about the produce industry is its focus on health and wellness. Citrus spearheads this movement in many ways, offering immunity boosting properties and deliciousness to boot. To check in on the current state of TerraFresh Organics’ citrus program, I tapped Fernando Valle, Sales Operations Specialist.

“The demand for citrus has been great, as people are placing a stronger emphasis on their health due to COVID-19,” remarked Fernando. “The weather has been favorable thus far, producing a great quality of fruit. We’re currently experiencing rainier weather that could potentially dampen the fruit and slow down harvesting for a short period.”

Fernando noted that overall, organic citrus prices have been higher than past seasons due to the high demand and favorable quality being harvested this year.

“The season is well underway as we’re in the heart of harvesting California fruit. We’re currently supplying Tango mandarin, Minneolas, and will soon be harvesting Gold Nuggets. Blood oranges and lemons are also available right now with stonefruit right around the corner. We’re approaching mid-season on Navels and will be providing peaches, plums, and pluots beginning in May,” Fernando commented.
