Abby Prior of BrightFarms® Discusses Upcoming Southern Exposure Showcase
IRVINGTON, NY - BrightFarms® is bringing the crunch to Orlando, Florida, next month. The grower is preparing to strut its stuff on the Southern Exposure show floor March 2–4, bringing with it a slew of delicious products to stop buyers in their tracks. I got in touch with Abby Prior, Chief Commercial Officer, ahead of the show, who teased what we can expect at the event.
“This year, follow our sun to booth #907 where it’s crunch time at BrightFarms. Our two Crunch Kit™ Salad offerings—Chickpea Caesar and Sunny Bacon—feature BrightFarms greenhouse-grown, fresh Sunny Crunch® lettuce topped with premium, crunchy toppings. Through these offerings, we provide consumers with a complete salad experience of fresh, tasty greens in a convenient format,” Abby told me.
A delightful twist on a culinary classic, the Chickpea Caesar Crunch Kit™ is topped with crispy chickpeas, quinoa, shaved Parmesan, garlic crouton crumbles, and a vegan Caesar dressing. Sunny Bacon, on the other hand, is a savory salad that features uncured bacon bits, shredded white cheddar cheese, sunflower seeds, crispy onions, herb croutons, and a vegan ranch dressing. Both salad kits are uniquely packaged in BrightFarms’ peel and reseal container, so shoppers can simply add the ingredients, reseal the pack, shake, and enjoy.
“In addition to our Crunch Kits™ Salads, our portfolio of fresh, leafy greens will be on the show floor. Our signature Sunny Crunch® will be on display along with our tasty Romaine, Spring Mix, Harvest Crunch®, and more,” Abby continued.
BrightFarms’ introduction of Crunch Kits™ Salads at last spring’s Southern Exposure amplified its position as a category leader within the indoor growing space, Abby noted. Salad kits are one of the fastest growing segments in indoor farming and in packaged salads.
“We partnered with our retail customers in the development of our salad kits, capitalizing on flavor trends and insights on consumer demand of tangential categories such as dressings, salad toppings, and produce,” Abby stated. “These premium kits are now available across the East Coast and Midwest. We look forward to sharing our innovative, convenient products with buyers who are interested in adding this category leader to the convenience offerings.”
Abby teased that big expansion plans are underway for BrightFarms, with new indoor acres under construction in Illinois, along with groundbreakings in Georgia and Texas planned for this summer.
“BrightFarms is a national leader in the booming indoor farming industry, transforming how produce is grown and delivered with our expanding network of high-tech sustainable farms. By operating local greenhouse farms in partnership with major retailers and cities across the country, we eliminate time, distance, and costs from the food supply chain,” Abby concluded. “We’re proud to employ local community farmers to make fresh, local, pesticide-free produce accessible to all.”
