Ahold Delhaize Appoints Dave Bass as Managing Director of FreshDirect; CEO Frans Muller Comments
ZAANDAM, THE NETHERLANDS & NEW YORK, NY - It seems the flurry of new retail appointments continues as Ahold Delhaize is boosting its leadership team. Recently, the retailer announced Dave Bass will be taking on the position of Managing Director of FreshDirect.
“FreshDirect is a truly unique brand, working directly with local suppliers, growers, and farmers to deliver the freshest and best-tasting products directly to people’s doorsteps,” Bass said. “I look forward to working with the team and helping FreshDirect grow its leading customer service and high-quality assortment to customers in the greater New York City area.”
Bass brings 13 years of grocery and retail experience to the table. According to his LinkedIn, Bass started working for Hannaford Bros. in 2008 before stepping into the Delhaize America company and transitioning to Food Lion, Retail Business Services, and Peapod Digital Labs throughout his career.
According to the release, Bass will be taking over for Farhan Siddiqi. Siddiqi currently holds the position of Chief Digital Officer of Ahold Delhaize. FreshDirect’s previous Chief Executive Officer, David McInerney, announced his departure from his position effective May 5. Siddiqi has served as the interim Chief Executive Officer of FreshDirect since then and is a current Board Member.
