Aldi Enters Arizona Market
PHOENIX, AZ - Is there anything discount grocer Aldi can’t do? So far, we’ve yet to see it. Once again, the retailer is expanding, this time into a new market in Arizona.
“We’re thrilled to continue expanding in the Southwest, and we take great pride in reaching this milestone as we open our first Arizona stores,” said Tom Cindel, Group Director of Operations and Logistics, in a statement acquired by Phoenix Business Journal. “Our aggressive growth plans have always been centered around providing as many people as possible the high-quality, affordable groceries they can count on every day.”
On November 5, 2020, both stores will open in Chandler and Goodyear, Arizona. Stores within this region include Basha’s and Safeway; Aldi noted that its layout is noticeably smaller than these counterparts, immediately adding differentiation between them.
With a smaller layout, this has allowed Aldi to focus on staples alongside its private label—which gives the grocer the ability to control its pricing.
Phoenix is known for being a competitive retail market—how will Aldi’s entrance here continue to drive both grocery expansion and retail heat? AndNowUKnow will report.
