SANTA CRUZ, CA - The Organic Produce Summit (OPS) is a well-attended, important event that allows for integral in-person interaction with key stakeholders from the industry. It provides a diverse platform for suppliers to engage and exchange valuable information with buyers, distributors, and more. At least, that is what I have heard from the team at Awe Sum Organics.

David Posner, Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer, Awe Sum Organics“It will be wonderful to see all our friends and colleagues in the organic produce trade this summer. OPS is our favorite show because it is 100 percent focused on organic produce, just like Awe Sum is and has been since our inception. We love it because we are so passionate about what we do, organic farming, getting the fruits of our labor to our customers and to consumers across the country, sustainability, awe sum tasting organic fruit, and the organic food movement,” said David Posner, President, Chief Executive Officer, and Founder.

Awe Sum is already working with all four of its organic Peruvian grape growers in preparation for the upcoming season, continuing to increase its supply during the winter months. The supplier will help fill the winter organic fruit void with organic table grapes from early December, when the California grape season is finishing up, through the end of April. Awe Sum begins the winter organic grape season with grapes from Northern Peru and finishes the season with Southern Peruvian organic grape production.

“Awe Sum also provides a year-round supply of organic kiwi from our growers in both the Southern and Northern Hemispheres to ensure fruit availability all the time,” David continued. “Sungold™ and Green kiwi for the summer is sourced from Zespri, along with top Chilean organic green kiwi growers; green kiwi for the fall, winter, and spring months is sourced from our top Italian, Greek, and California growers; and gold and red kiwi is sourced from our top Italian and Greek growers. During the months of October through June, most of our organic kiwi is Fair Trade certified by Fair Trade USA.”

According to David, blueberries from Peru have a faster transport time than from some other South American countries. Awe Sum works with specific growers in Peru for high-quality blueberries utilizing an organic fertilization program. Pears, of course, will also be on display. All Awe Sum pears are grown by PAI in the Rio Negro Valley of Argentina, which is one of the best regions in the world for producing pears.

Our main goals for the show are to continue to build lasting relationships within the industry; strengthen the brand; visit with customer and growers; further research of the produce industry; learn industry innovations and gather information from the seminars; and showcase our organic grapes, organic pears, organic avocados, organic blueberries, and organic kiwi,” David told me. “We also plan to re-emphasize Awe Sum Organics as an important participant in the Organic and Fair Trade segment.”

Awe Sum is adding organic avocados and organic blueberries to its product list. The company has done extensive research throughout the supply chain including its grower base to ensure it has supply that is aligned with its mission and values. Awe Sum also continues to broaden its sustainability initiatives and expand its field innovation footprint.

“Awe Sum is also stepping up our game with a new General Manager, a new Vice President of Sales and Business Development, a new Senior Operations and System Manager, and a Grower Relations and Compliance Manager to further support our initiatives for 2023 and beyond,” David concluded.

For all of this and much more, be sure to stop by the Awe Sum booth at OPS!
