Brookshire Brothers Adds Four New Locations in East Texas Market
LUFKIN, TX - Taking a leap to further its reach in East Texas, Brookshire Brothers has announced it will be adding four new locations in the region.
“Each of these stores and its employee-owners will become an integral part of these communities by providing the exceptional customer experience Brookshire Brothers has been known for since its founding in 1921,” shared John Alston, Chief Operating Officer of Brookshire. “We believe that our core competency of operating diverse formats ranging from traditional supermarket, convenience, and pharmacy, to hybrids such as our Express banner and next generation supermarkets ideally positions us to fully-capitalize on future growth opportunities in a variety of markets.”
The first location in Grapeland, TX, has an anticipated opening for late October of this year, with other East Texas stores in Wells, Valley Mills, and Hudson to follow. According to a press release, the Grapeland, TX, store will also be under the retailer’s “Express” format, meaning it will essentially be a grocery and convenience store hybrid. Each Express store has fresh produce and meat departments, and delis that include full breakfast, hot lunch and dinner plates.
Brookshire Brothers currently owns 110 retail outlets, including grocery stores and convenience stores. Located in an already competitive Texas marketplace, its footprint stretches east to Lake Charles, Louisiana, west to Dublin, Texas, north to Whitesboro, and south to Ganado, Texas.
The company reports that each store will provide employment to more than 130 people. Will these new stores upset the already tense market in Texas? AndNowUKnow will continue to follow the state’s retail growth, so stay tuned.
