ISSAQUAH, WA - 2021 was a year of ups and downs, and we here in the fresh produce industry have overcome a multitude of challenges to meet 2022 strong on all fronts. As consumers sought out healthier and more nutritious products to stock their carts throughout the pandemic, retailers like Costco Wholesale Corporation are reporting immense growth in sales. In its December Sales Results, Costco revealed net sales of $22.24 billion for the retail month of December.

For the five weeks ending January 2, 2022, Costco saw an increase of 16.2 percent from $19.14 billion last year. Of note, the company saw a 17.8 percent increase in its e-commerce sales in comparable sales, showing that shoppers are still opting for delivery and online shopping.

According to the results, the company reported net sales of $76.34 billion for the 18 weeks ending on January 2, showing an increase of 16.6 percent from $65.47 billion last year.
