Fresh Produce Suppliers Share Their Words on Frank Swanson's Retirement
ROSEMONT, IL - Frank Swanson has an energy and a positivity that is downright contagious. And, when the industry vet announced his retirement last month, we knew there would be more than a few people in this industry who felt the same way.
Frank has impacted the lives of so many industry friends during his time, from up-and-comers to fresh produce vets. Last week, we shared what some of his friends at US Foods had to say about the advocate, mentor, and all-around amazing guy. Now, check out what a few of the supply-side's finest had to share as we continue celebrating Frank and his retirement!
Ron Conrad, Sales, Rainier Fruit Company
"A big congrats to Frank! Frank has been the go-to person in foodservice for over 25 years. His desire and willingness to train and pass on his knowledge of produce to the next generation is second to none. His mark will be left on this industry for years to come. I am honored to call him a friend and colleague. Happy Birthday, Frank. Have a great retirement, you deserve it!"
Bob Licker, Regional Manager of Food Service East, Church Brothers Farms
"When it comes to Frank, where do you start? Frank loved all food, but if you found a restaurant that had a good wedge salad and onion soup, he was a happy guy! This speaks volumes to his deep love for all things but, also, the value he found in the simple experiences as well. I had the pleasure of first meeting Frank some 18 years ago and quickly realized just what a produce man Frank was! He was the real deal. From quality assurance and procurement to sales and operations, Frank's expertise never ceased to amaze me. Frank was a mentor and friend to everyone he met. One statement that Frank was noted to say quite often was, 'When we make a business decision, we must always make it with the customer in mind.'"
Dan Acevedo, Director of Business Development, GreenFruit Avocados
"Frank Swanson is one of the most sincere and genuine people that I have had the pleasure to work with within our industry. His smile and positive attitude are contagious. I wish Frank many enjoyable years ahead with his bride."
Amy Holcomb, National Account Manager, Lipman Family Farms
"Frank has touched the lives of so many in our trade, so to watch him retire is certainly a bittersweet moment. He has taught me an immeasurable amount of knowledge in the short eight years I have known him, and I am thankful to have so many great memories to keep with me. I still laugh about the lessons learned [and hours spent] walking through coolers. My first walk-through with Frank lasted about four hours, and I swore I left with frostbite! Lesson learned. The next time, I came prepared with a full winter snowsuit. Here's to you, Frank. This industry would not and will not be the same without you!"
Joe Murphy, President, Fresh Horizons
"When I think of Frank Swanson, more than a few things come to mind: his undeniable laugh and sincere smile, how he is always present in the moment and engaging, his passion for the industry and the excellence in what he did, his desire to always do the right thing, and the high bar he set to do his best—no matter the task. Frank truly believes that we, as an industry, can do anything if we put our minds together. His belief in our potential not only makes him great, but makes us great."
Thank you to all of Frank's friends and colleagues for your kind words and gift of time. Frank, don't be a stranger, but please enjoy that retirement!
