I Love Produce Joins Forces With Northside Skull & Bone Gang at the Global Produce and Floral Show; Jim Provost Comments

WEST GROVE, PA - This year, two major events are set to line up, bringing spooky fun to the produce industry. I’m talking, of course, about the International Fresh Produce Association’s Global Produce & Floral Show and Halloween. As both celebrations approach, I Love Produce announced that it will be bringing the “Skull and Bulb Gang” to the show in partnership with the North Side Skull and Bone Gang, carrying on its tradition of featuring exciting guests to promote its garlic.

Jim Provost, President, I Love Produce“We had big plans for The North Side Skull and Bone Gang in New Orleans last year, perhaps the final year the convention would have been held there,” Jim Provost, President of I Love Produce, explained. “Then we decided to bring part of New Orleans’ culture and tradition to Orlando. Plus, the convention is on Halloween weekend, a double bonus!”

The North Side Skull and Bone Gang appears on Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday every year to remind people that life is short. According to a release, members of the gang, which draws heavily on African traditions, wear skeleton masks, play percussion instruments, and chant and sing during Carnival to remind people to be their best and enjoy life.

Before the event was canceled last year due to a hurricane, the gang was set to appear with I Love Produce at the show. This year, Big Chief Sunpie Barnes and Chief Zohar Israel will be joining the team at their booth #1504, to promote the company’s annual OctGarlicFest Halloween promotion.

“Having people remember that life is precious and that we have all survived through hard times is our positive message,” Barnes said. “We are happy and delighted to have the opportunity to mask again for a fun event that will also benefit our group.”

In the past, I Love Produce has featured Elvira, the Queen of Halloween, and Count Von Count from Sesame Street at its booth.

For a chance to snap a picture with the gang, get a souvenir mask, and learn about garlic and New Orleans culture, make sure to stop by I Love Produce’s booth.
