MICKLETON, NJ - We here at AndNowUKnow have covered our fair share of expansions in our industry. From footprint to workforce to operations, each announcement is just as exciting. On my radar recently was LGS Specialty Sales, as it recently opened a new warehouse under its S&L Cold Storage arm in May 2023. I got in touch with James Rasmussen, Sales Manager, to learn more about the new Mickleton, New Jersey, facility.

“We’re excited to increase production on the East Coast. The size and scope of the facility allows us to increase efficiency immensely,” says James. “Our new facility is state-of-the-art and the only one on the East Coast like it. This warehouse is run by LGS and S&L employees, not a third party, which makes this a unique operation.”

Clocking in at 235,000 total square feet, the facility will house 60,000 square feet for its packing area, 22 bagging machines, a state-of-the-art optical grader, and three ripening rooms for avocados. Over 8,500 pallet spaces are already built into the S&L warehouse, and there is still room for future growth.

“Our new warehouse will help further our mission of vertical integration by automating workflows to control cost increases, create more consistent packs, ensure the highest quality, and maintain inventory control,” continues James. “We are very excited with how well the S&L warehouse is operating, and we are already seeing increased production. Trucks get loaded quicker, and our lag time has decreased. It’s exciting to see things running smoothly, and we are eager to continue improving.”
