MEXICO - While I don’t have all of my holiday shopping ironed out, MAS Melons & Grapes is ahead of the game as it prepares to gift retailers and shoppers with delicious fresh melons. As the grower wraps up its fall crop from Northern Mexico and begins its transition to Southern Mexico, there are good supplies in store for buyers this winter.

Miguel “Mikee” Suarez Jr., Sales Member, MAS Melons & Grapes“Our crops are spread out between the states of Colima and Nayarit,” explains Miguel “Mikee” Suarez Jr., Sales Member, regarding its Southern Mexico production. “We have good supplies of our core products set to harvest in Late December. Throughout the winter months, we will carry Honeydew melons, Orange Candy melons, conventional seedless watermelons, and personal seedless watermelons.”

As is normal, MAS Melons & Grapes' winter supply is slightly smaller than its fall and spring crops. However, the growers planted approximately the same volume as last season, so it is expecting similar supplies as years past for Honeydew, seedless watermelon, and personal seedless watermelons.

MAS Melons & Grapes offers its customers a steady supply of Honeydew melons, seedless watermelons, and personal seedless watermelons during the winter months

This year, the supplier’s Orange Candy melons are up in volume. The variety is also gaining popularity amongst consumers thanks to its explosive melon flavor.

“Orange Candy melons are an excellent substitution for cantaloupes if there is a shortage of supply,” Mikee shares. “The exterior is a bright yellow, the flesh is orange, and the taste is like a cantaloupe, but juicier.”

Mas Melons & Grapes also offers Orange Candy melons, similar to a cantaloupe but juicier in flavor

Although MAS Melons & Grapes experienced some heavy rains in September and October that delayed its planting schedule, the supplier is on track to start its winter harvest in late December with Honeydew. All other items will start shortly after, and thanks to good weather recently, the plants are looking healthy and ready to produce high-quality fruit for its customers.

As we head into the new year, give your shoppers the gift of fresh melons from MAS Melons & Grapes. It will be one of the tastiest ways to kick off 2023!
