CARYTOWN, VIRGINIA - It appears Publix’s current strategy is to open single store locations in key cities across the nation as a means to bolster its ranks and expand its network. This week, Publix signed the lease on a 45,000-square-foot grocery store in Carytown, Virginia—a lease that was almost a year in the making, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

“We are excited to be moving forward with this project and are committed to bringing Carytown the premier service and quality we are known for and that has earned us recognition throughout the industry,” said Kimberly Reynolds, Publix's Media & Community Relations Manager. “We look forward to being a part of this wonderful and vibrant community, as well as being active and present partners.”

The new location will be a part of the Carytown Exchange shopping center on West Cary Street, which is looking to be developed by Florida-based shopping center developer Regency Centers Corp. According to the news source, Publix has been negotiating the terms of this particular lease with Regency Centers for a better part of this year.

While an opening date has not yet been set, the store will employ about 140 workers and mark Publix’s 11^th store in the Richmond area.
