The Raley's Companies Appoints Steve Mayer as President of Bashas'
CHANDLER, AZ - A presidential transition took place at The Raley’s Companies division Bashas’ Family of Stores. Steve Mayer has been named the new President, taking the role over for Trey Basha.
“It’s a real honor for me. This is Arizona-based, which is good because everyone that works in the building knows Arizona, and that’s very important to serve our guests,” Mayer commented on his succession process with outgoing President Trey Basha, who will embark on a new mission with his church. “We’re excited for his new adventure. It’s a calling that he had.”
Mayer, who has been with Bashas’ since 2021, previously held the title of Chief Operating Officer for the Chandler-based grocer.
The Bashas’ Family of Stores is a division of The Raley’s Companies after the California-based chain acquired Bashas’ in December 2021. Along with the appointment, Raley’s unveiled a new hub for merchandising and operations for the Bashas’ Family of Stores, which is the grocer’s first corporate office move in 90 years. This pursuit for a new office had been underway since the start of 2022 after the acquisition.
“We took it nice and slow to make sure that everything worked. It’s a lot of people on systems,” Mayer said. “We wanted to make sure there was no disruption for our business. It really came off well.”
The more than 59,000-square-foot office, located at 2650 W. Geronimo Place, serves Bashas’, Food City, AJ’s Fine Foods, Eddie’s Country Store, and Bashas’ Diné grocery stores across Arizona and New Mexico. Phoenix Business Journal reported the layout of the new support center lends itself to collaboration with open spaces.
