Target Hires John Bauer as New Senior Vice President, Global Inventory Management
MINNEAPOLIS, MN - In an effort to strengthen its supply chain, Target has announced a new senior executive hire. The company has appointed John Bauer to the position of Senior Vice President, Global Inventory Management.
“Target is dedicated to ensuring guests have access to the products they love, when and how they want them,” said Bauer, in a press release. “I’m looking forward to returning to a great company and helping drive the next phase of an industry-leading supply chain evolution.”
Bauer previously worked with Target from 1999 to 2007 and has held leadership positions at Kohl’s, Starbucks, and most recently, TJX Companies, Inc., where he served as Chief Logistics Officer.
“We’re thrilled to have John rejoin the Target team,” said Arthur Valdez Jr., EVP and Chief Supply Chain Officer. “Inventory management touches all aspects of the business, from merchandising and sourcing, to supply chain and stores. John has experience working across all aspects of retail and delivering results in transformational environments.”
In its press release, the retailer noted that Target is working to completely transform its supply chain and logistics capabilities—leveraging its network of more than 1,800 stores to do so in order to offer free two-day shipping nationwide, same-day delivery shopped by Shipt in 150 markets, and rollout Drive Up and Order Pick-Up services.
Bauer will report to Valdez in his new role, effective August 20, 2018.
