Trader Joe's Announces Plans to Build Distribution Center in Palmdale, California



LOS ANGELES, CA - Hard hats and shovels are at the ready as Trader Joe’s kicks off construction on a new food assembly and distribution center in Palmdale, California, standing at approximately 1 million square feet.

The 104-acre project site is set to include three buildings: an 827,000-square-foot “hub” building, a 211,000-square-foot freezer facility, and a 6,000-square-foot accessory building. Construction of the 1.03-million-square-foot logistics center, which will support the retailer’s stores throughout Southern California, is scheduled to begin in December and be completed in the fourth quarter of 2024.

This will be Trader Joe’s first distribution center in Los Angeles County and the company’s largest logistics facility in California, according to Whittier Daily News. The grocer currently operates additional distribution facilities in Fontana and Stockton.

The source also noted that the new food assembly and distribution center in Palmdale is expected to employ 800–1,000 workers.
