Walmart Partners in Organic Fast Food Restaurant 'grown'

ORLANDO, FL - Inside a Florida Walmart, shoppers now have access to organics in an on-the-go capacity never before seen within the retailer’s locations: fast food.

It seems the company has collaborated with a restaurant idea launched by two-time NBA champion Ray Allen and his wife Shannon, that brings all things organic to the fast food market. Aptly dubbed “grown,” the fast food restaurant touts “real food, cooked slow for fast people” and offers an extremely health-driven menu with items like:

  • Fresh fruit and berry-loaded smoothies
  • Cold pressed juices
  • Salads
  • Açai bowls
  • Avocado toast

Catering to vegans and gluten-sensitivities, according to its menu, these offerings are a far cry from the usual eateries you see in your Neighborhood Walmarts.

The restaurant is located in the chain’s Narcoosee Road outpost in Orlando, FL, and attempts to remake the barn-revived aesthetic grown has gone for in its Miami location–as much as it can inside the store. But while the feeling of an organic family farm is key, it's the accessibility that makes this partnership so compelling.

"Operating grown inside of Walmart makes the store accessible to every family, regardless of their mean income, making the move a game-changer for consumers," a representative for the brand wrote via email to Delish.

The prices, however, will be at the usual rates seen in any of the more natural, non-GMO, organic only eateries. Despite this, it will be interesting to see how this latest move is received by Walmart shoppers.

Will this become the newest addition to even more Walmart stores? I, for one, would love to see this pop up in one of my stores.
