WinCo Foods Announces New Store in Centralia, Washington
CENTRALIA, WA - WinCo Foods is branching out into new markets and keeping a close eye on its competitors’ real estate plans. The retailer recently announced its newest upcoming store in the Port of Centralia in Centralia, Washington. According to a press release, the new location is set to break ground in 2020 and open to the public by 2021.
“The Port continues to move forward towards developing Centralia Station and we are excited to have WinCo choose Centralia,” Port of Centralia Commission President Julie Shaffley commented. “We know the community has been wanting WinCo Foods for a long time and we are happy to help deliver. We appreciate Powell Development and their success in attracting this quality company and their continued interest in developing in this area.”
WinCo was not the only retailer eyeing the space, as Fred Meyer had previously expressed interest in the location as well, reports The Daily Chronicle. But the store wasn’t to be, and the grocer ended negotiations with developers in late 2018.
According to the news source, the area is likely to be highly lucrative, with the possibility of $118 million in local sales, and the new store will boost the local economy with more than 500 new jobs.
