US Foods Begins Construction on New Chef'Store in Charleston, South Carolina
CHARLESTON, SC – Foodservice provider US Foods is growing its presence in the South and expanding its Chef’Store concept; the company is moving ahead with plans to open its fifth Chef’Store location in the Southern food mecca of Charleston, South Carolina.
According to local news source The Post and Courier, the Illinois-based foodservice provider will break ground on its new 59,000-square-foot Chef’Store location—located on 9 acres on the city’s upper peninsula—this month.
US Foods originally purchased the plot of land this August from American Shipping and Logistics Group for a reported $7.9 million.
When completed, the new Chef’Store will offer wholesale food, equipment and supplies to the restaurant industry—with more than 350,000 brands being represented. The new location will join stores in Charlotte, NC; Columbia, SC; Oklahoma City, OK; and Tempe, AZ, along with more than 60 US Foods distribution facilities in 37 states.
