Bobalu Shares Crop Update and Statewide Strawberry Status for Week of September 29, 2023
CALIFORNIA - I see fields of strawberries filling our fall season thanks to Bobalu. The producer is back to provide us with a necessary update on its crops throughout its California growing regions, and we can’t wait to dive in.
“As we get through this first full week of fall 2023, we are also shifting right into our fall crop in both of our California growing regions,” the company noted. “The weather has been a factor all year long this season, and we hope to see some mild conditions as we step into October next week.”
Over in Santa Maria, Bobalu is projecting fall crop volume to increase each week to meet demand, and the spring fruit is expected to maintain for the next few weeks due to the west side location with mild weather conditions. There have been some damp, foggy mornings and evenings, but cool October nights are on the horizon to provide the grower with firm fruit with great color and size.
Oxnard crops are also looking great even with the light volume coming on right now, providing excellent fruit size, color, and firmness. The volume will increase slightly each week for the next couple of weeks. By the time we get to the International Fresh Produce Association convention in Anaheim later in October, Bobalu should be experiencing peak numbers that will carry the company well into November as we wait for the 2024 spring crop to take over.
Bobalu is looking for volume from its three key growers in Central Mexico to kick in soon for the 2023–24 season. Stay tuned in as the grower will report more on that volume in its next update as it heads to Mexico next week to meet and walk the ranches.
