Discovery Organics Announces New Ownership Group
VANCOUVER, BC, CANADA - The passing of the torch is much easier when you know that those next in line are going to carry on the mission set in motion. This is the case as Discovery Organics, a Canada-based organics wholesaler, announced that a group of its current employees purchased a majority share of the company from its Founders. Following the sale, a new ownership group was put in place, effective July 1, 2021, as the group looks to foster new growth.
Started in 1998 by Annie Moss and her husband Randy Hopper, Discovery Organics is a certified organic fresh produce wholesaler located in Vancouver, British Columbia, according to a press release. The company currently has warehouses in Vancouver and Calgary, Alberta, and services Canadian retailers, restaurants, processors, and buying groups year-round.
What began as a mission to develop markets for local organic farmers has evolved into a business that sources directly from organic farms, ranches, and orchards across the Western Hemisphere, especially those with a strong connection to the Fair Trade movement.
As the wholesaler continues to wield its strong understanding of food systems and the interconnected nature of the food industry to grow important relationships from farm to table, a new ownership group has taken root. Included in the group are:
- Stefan Misse – President
- Viviana Marino – Financial Controller
- Damien Bryan – Vice President Business Development
- Newry Lee – Customs and Logistics Manager
- Brody Irvine – Senior Purchasing Manager
