Fibre Box Association Ensures Corrugated Cardboard Supply is Not Disrupted Amidst COVID-19 Precautions
ITASCA, IL - Corrugated cardboard continues to flow, ensuring not just packaging for fresh foods, but also necessities amidst the fight to contain COVID-19, such as medical and pharmaceutical products, tissue and hygiene products, and more. Fibre Box Association is ensuring disruption of the packaging material and that which it delivers to consumers does not happen.
“Corrugated cardboard packaging is the backbone of the American supply chain,” said Dennis Colley, President and CEO. “As COVID-19 changes our daily lives, we want to assure consumers that the box industry is continuing to operate and to deliver needed packaging to our customers who supply grocery stores, pharmacies, doctor’s offices, and hospitals with food and medical supplies to keep us all healthy and safe.”
The association noted in a recent press release that significant hardships would be caused across the country without corrugated cardboard available, and manufacturers are dedicated to continuing to operate box plants under the guidelines of Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to ensure the market remains steady.
Furthering that promise, the Fibre Box Association recently joined the American Forest & Paper Association in encouraging federal, state, and local governments to recognize the corrugated packaging industry as “essential” when drafting “Shelter in Place” orders.
Seeking clear exclusion of its manufacturing operations to limit disruptions to the supply chain, Colley added, “We are grateful for the dedication and commitment of all people working in the corrugated packaging industry.”
There are a number of components to the machine that is the supply chain, parts that usually remain behind the curtain for consumers while ensuring their needs are consistently met. As produce industry members and those that make what they do possible now come forward to maintain that necessary role, AndNowUKnow will continue to report on the latest.
