FRESNO, CA - A significant ag acquisition is taking place in California. Fresno-based Fowler Packing Company has acquired SunWest Fruit Company in partnership with Ag Partners Capital. With this deal, Fowler adds over 10,000 acres of farmland to its operations, with new access to coveted water districts.

“Given the significant headwinds facing California agriculture, we are constantly evaluating how we can better support our retail partners, consumers, and employees,” said Justin Parnagian, Chief Executive Officer. “This is the largest acquisition in Fowler Packing’s history and represents a historic moment for our family-owned company.”

The acquisition of Sunwest is part of a long-term strategic plan to further strengthen Fowler’s position in the citrus category and California agriculture, according to a press release.

The deal will increase total Mandarin volume, expand citrus offerings, and enhance Fowler’s packing capacity while creating opportunities for current and future employees.

Since its launch in 2019, Fowler’s Peelz® brand has experienced explosive growth. The brand has continued to significantly grow its market share, increasing sales in the last year by over 60 percent and sold in more than 12,000 stores throughout North America.
