Giant Food Unveils New Store in Silver Spring, Maryland; Ira Kress Details
LANDOVER, MD - Streamers were flying and champagne was popping last Friday as Giant Food opened its newest store in Silver Spring, Maryland. The nearly 65,000-square-foot store brings 100 new jobs to the community and follows three re-openings within Maryland and Virginia.
"Giant Food has been serving the Silver Spring community since 1958, and we are pleased to bring this new store that will provide a fresh space for everyone to enjoy," said Ira Kress, President. "The new store is designed to bring the best products and value to the community while continuing to offer top-notch service to new and existing customers."
The new store features expanded departments and extensive prepared food offerings, as well as a full-service floral department and more. Giant Pickup and Giant Delivers are also available on the company website or on the mobile app. Exclusively available this summer through Giant Delivers, the retailer is offering Local Produce Boxes containing fruit and vegetables sourced straight from local area farms.
According to a press release, customers also have access to Giant’s Healthy Living Team of licensed nutritionists for free online and phone consultations as well as ongoing online nutrition classes and webinars.
The new store replaces the Giant location in Beltsville, Maryland, and will open the following morning after the nearby location closes.
