SAN ANTONIO, TX ‑ As torrential flooding wreaks havoc on Texas, organizations around the country are coming together to provide relief for victims of Hurricane Harvey. One of the companies contributing to the cause is H-E-B, which announced Sunday that it donated $100,000 and began a campaign drive for customer contributions of $1, $3, or $5 added to grocery bills, with total donation efforts now reaching $1 million. In addition, the company has deployed H‑E‑B’s Emergency Response Team with Disaster Relief Units (DRUs) and an H‑E‑B Mobile Kitchen stationed in Rockport with a second team in Houston.

"H‑E‑B has received numerous requests from customers about how they can help support victims and communities affected by Hurricane Harvey," said Winell Herron, H‑E‑B Group Vice President of Public Affairs and Diversity. "H‑E‑B's tear pad campaign offers a convenient and efficient way for our customers to make a difference in the lives of thousands of families in need."

All H‑E‑B, Central Market, and Joe V's Smart Shop stores across Texas launched the statewide tear pad campaign. All monies accepted are going to benefit the American Red Cross for Texas Flood and Hurricane Relief, The Salvation Army, and Feeding Texas. As of today, the company has made the following impact:

• To date, H‑E‑B has donated a total of $1 million, which includes Food Bank donations, Disaster Relief Units and monetary commitments.
• Hundreds of Partners companywide continue to volunteer where there is need, helping with donation drives, food service and other relief efforts.
• To date, H‑E‑B has donated more than 62,000 cases of water, or 39 truckloads, to people and communities in need throughout storm affected areas across Texas.
• To date, H‑E‑B has donated more than 45,000 bags of ice, or 12 truckloads, to communities affected by the storm.

Additionally, H‑E‑B's Mobile Kitchens and Disaster Relief Units are gearing up to feed and help communities in need along the Texas Gulf Coast. H‑E‑B continues to work directly with disaster relief agencies to efficiently distribute supplies to areas where they are needed most. So far, the teams have already handed out more than 10,000 hot meals and truckloads of water and ice to people in Victoria, Rockport, and Aransas Pass.
