Hy-Vee Donates 2,000 Watermelons to Channel One Regional Food Bank
ROCHESTER, MN - Hy-Vee has joined the retail ranks of many including Walmart and Sysco, as the grocery sector creates a united front to address the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic across the business and our communities. This month, Hy-Vee is doing its part and has donated nearly 2,000 jumbo seedless watermelons to Channel One Regional Food Bank with the help of its vendor Sol Group.
“We are extremely grateful for Sol Group’s partnership in helping us care for our communities during this difficult time,” said Tina Potthoff, Hy-Vee’s Senior Vice President of Communications. “We are committed to helping our local food banks and hope this donation will provide some relief for them and our communities.”
This act is due, in part, to a series of donations by Hy-Vee and Sol Group, which are being executed across the retailer’s eight-state region, according to a press release.
Delivered to the Food Bank on Monday, the approximately 20-pound jumbo seedless melons from Sol Group could only have been a welcomed gesture during these times of need.
“Hy-Vee has always been about giving back to the communities they serve,” said Adam Lazo, Head of Sales for Sol Group Marketing. “We want to make sure we are doing everything we can to help them take care of those in need.”
Thank you to all the companies and individuals that are doing their part on the front lines. We at AndNowUKnow are grateful and inspired by these gestures every day.
