Kroger Opens New Kroger Marketplace
LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, OH - Grocery stores are in high-demand these days, which makes sense given how much retailers have stepped up their game in the innovation department. No one knows this fact more than the residents of Liberty Township, Ohio, who had reason to rejoice this past week after Kroger announced it would be opening a new Marketplace in the city.
According to Journal-News, the long-awaited store is replacing a smaller former Kroger storefront. The former location was 57,000 square feet, while the new Kroger Marketplace will be 124,000 square feet—typical for the retailer’s larger format that includes more goods than just grocery.
This new location under its Marketplace banner fits right in with some of Kroger's latest initiatives. Namely, the retailer has been pushing forward concepts beyond its traditional grocery business, including dark kitchens, robotic warehouses, and other strategies.
While Kroger has broken ground on the larger store format in Liberty Township, the retailer has not disclosed when its latest location will open to the public. In the meantime, AndNowUKnow will continue to keep an eye on any movement in the grocery retail sector.
