IMMOKALEE, FL - Lipman Family Farms recently teamed up with a Southeastern Grocers banner for an exciting event to raise money for education. The Winn-Dixie store in Immokalee, Florida, recently partnered with Lipman to raise funds to help equip area students with essential school supplies as part of Lipman’s annual 5K Run for Backpacks.

On April 1, Winn-Dixie and Lipman welcomed more than 700 community members to the 8th annual 5K event in Ave Maria, Florida, to support students and families affected by the pandemic and Hurricane Ian. As noted in the release, all proceeds raised during the run support Lipman’s annual back-to-school giveaway in August, which has provided more than 17,000 students with essential school supplies, including backpacks, bicycles, shoes, and more. This year, Lipman broke a record of $100,000 fundraised, which will mean an even bigger back-to-school event on August 5.

In addition to the 5K run, which participants could join in person or virtually, events included a one-mile walk and a free junior fun run for kids 10 and under.
