Longo's Enters Team Tommy in 7th Annual Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer
VAUGHAN, ON - Longo’s is going all in on its Bold Moves guiding principles, as it tackles the Health & Wellness and Community Initiatives and Corporate Social Responsibility tenets with it’s latest endeavor. The retailer is the official Grocery Partner of the 7th annual Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer fundraising marathon benefiting The Princess Margaret Hospital with one goal in mind: Conquer Cancer in Our Lifetime.
At the event, Longo’s will be “fueling” the competitors at its “Re-Fresh Zone.” The retailer will provide healthy and nutritious breakfast and hydrate players throughout the tournament. With 150 teams and over 17,000 participants, Longos as an organization is heavily involved in the event, with 8 teams and over 60 players that participate in the tournament every year.
“Longo’s is an official sponsor and with the help of our partners we have donated over half a million dollars to the cause since the RHCC was founded 7 years ago,” Mimmo Franzone, Director of Produce and Floral, told me about the event. “Over and above our monetary sponsorship to this world class event; we provide refreshments and healthy snacks for all the participants. What better than fresh produce to keep those players hydrated…our refreshment tent is filled with apples, oranges, seasonal stone fruit, bananas, and fresh fruit and veggie smoothies along with water and other healthy snacks.”
The company is entering Team Tommy to play on Saturday, September 23rd at Woodbine Race Track. - Team Tommy Champion - $2000 - Will receive a large logo on the recognition board
- Honorary Captain - $1000 - Will receive a medium logo on the recognition board
- Hall of Famer - $500 - Will receive a small logo on the recognition board
