Lucky's Market to Delve Further into Florida With New Expansion



BOULDER, CO - After months of small scale announcements by Lucky’s Market of plans to trickle into the competitive Florida retail market, the company is now taking its plans head on. Over the next two years, the organic-focused grocery chain will be entering into a six store expansion in the Sunshine State.

Lucky’s Market has now revealed that it will build its third store in Southern Florida, opening in Oakland Park this summer. According to the South Florida Business Journal, the lineup of new locations in the works now includes: 

  • An Oakland Park, Florida location (Summer 2017)
  • A Sarasota, Florida location (Summer 2017)
  • A Panama City location (Summer 2017)
  • A Port St. Lucie, Florida location (Late 2017) 
  • A Bonita Springs, Florida location (Early 2018)
  • A St. Petersburg, Florida location (Summer 2018) 

Peter Gialantzis, former Vice President of Purchasing & Chief Merchandising Officer, Lucky's“We’re looking to compete with the premium markets in terms of quality and merchandising, and to compete with conventional markets on price," Peter Gialantzis, Lucky’s former Vice President of Purchasing and Chief Merchandising Officer told our sister publication, The Snack Magazine. "Lucky’s is a young, local company. We aspire to grow decade-long partnerships and foster partnerships that are sustainable. We’ve grown quickly, and we will continue to grow quickly.”

2016 was the first major influx of Florida locations for the retailer, opening stores in Coral Springs, Plantation, Gainesville, Naples, Neptune Beach, Orlando, Tallahassee, and Melbourne. Now with the addition of the stores listed above, Lucky’s will be doubling its Florida fleet

Lucky's expansion into South Florida will put them head-to-head with the state’s current power players, including Publix, Walmart, and Winn-Dixie’s recently rolled out Fresco y Más stores.
