Mission Produce™ Spotlights Avocado and Mango Opportunities Ahead of Floral & Food Service Expo; Cheryl Hoefs Shares
OXNARD, CA - Avocados and mangos—two beloved categories that continue to have a draw on consumers in the produce department. One central player in both sectors is Mission Produce™, which recently unveiled a record-breaking mid-year review for the United States avocado and mango categories.
"The strong category performance of avocados and mangos in Q2 is a testament to the value of these commodities in the consumer diet," said Cheryl Hoefs, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "As we look forward to a promising second half of 2024, Mission Produce is committed to bringing profitable opportunities to our partners by leveraging our award-winning category management service, powered by AvoIntel™. This fall, as consumers shift focus to back-to-school meal planning and football season, we’re helping our customers drive demand and maximize profitability through strategic programming, promotion support, and cross-merchandising. With our customer-tailored ripe programs and unparalleled supply reliability, Mission Produce is the preferred industry partner for both avocados and mangos."
In Q2 2024, U.S. industry dollar sales for both avocados and mangos hit record highs, according to a press release. Seeing a 19 percent increase from Q2 2023, avocados hit $938.1 million, while mangos climbed to $155.4 million, up 4 percent from Q2 2023.
As we look to the fall months and the summer California, Peru, and Colombia seasons wind down, Mission Produce is preparing for various promotions on avocados from Mexico and Chile.
As for mangos, high-quality Kent, Keitt, and Honey mangos are continuing to arrive from Mexico. By early September, the Brazilian mango season is also anticipated to start ramping up.
With opportunities spanning across its avocado and mango portfolio, Mission Produce is taking to the New England Produce Council's (NEPC) Floral & Food Service Expo in Boston, Massachusetts, from August 19–20, 2024, to showcase its suite of offerings.
