Strella Biotechnology Rolls Out Automated Quality Management Platform for Retailers; Katherine Sizov and Jay Jordan Discuss
EWING, NJ - Buyers, are you ready to maximize opportunity and ROI in the fresh department? Giving grocers a leg up in the world of produce, freshness management company Strella Biotechnology has unveiled the launch of a new automated quality management platform for retailers.
“There is a lack of data around produce quality that results in unnecessary shrink and worsened customer experience on the store shelf. We use shelf-life data to help retailers make better decisions in their supply chain,” said Katherine Sizov, Chief Executive Officer.
Strella’s AQM platform is currently available for apples, pears, and bananas. According to a press release, Strella has worked predominantly with apple and pear suppliers utilizing proprietary sensing technology to predict shelf-life and optimize inventory management for nearly four years. The company has aligned with some of the largest United States apple and pear suppliers to make maturity-based inventory decisions, monitoring nearly two billion pieces of fruit since 2019.
Through its partnership with national retailers, Strella’s unique AQM platform achieved reduced store shrink in apples by 51 percent and improved overall quality and consumer experience. As noted in the release, this resulted in millions of dollars in bottom- and top-line improvement.
“Our solution is easy to implement and requires no operational overhead or coatings to dramatically improve the most important element in produce—quality,” commented Jay Jordan, Strella Biotechnology’s Chief Operating Officer.
