Subway Launches Plant-Based Sub for Veganuary; Rusty Warren Details
WALES, UNITED KINGDOM - Veganuary is in full swing, and United Kingdom-based Subway locations are helping consumers celebrate with the launch of a new plant-based sub: the Plant Picante.
“We’re excited to be launching the Plant Picante this January, which, like all our Subs, is fully customizable to your taste and adds to the range of vegetarian and plant-based options that we have at Subway,” Rusty Warren, Senior NPD and Product Innovation Manager at Subway, said. “For a vibrant and flavorful option during Veganuary, why not give it a try with our Vegan Cheeze and our legendary Vegan Double Choc Cookie for a fully plant-based meal.”
Available as a 6-inch, Footlong, wrap, or salad, the new sub is part of Subway’s Signature Series menu, WalesOnline reported. Catering to the demand for vegan offerings, Subway has a range of vegan bread options, in addition to its plant-based Garlic & Herbs, Sweet Onion, and Teriyaki sauces.
Subway already has a selection of plant-based options on the menu, as the source noted, including the Veggie Delite (when ordered with Vegan CheeZe), Crinkle Wedges, and the Vegan Double Choc Cookie.
Will we soon see this veggie-forward offering available Stateside? ANUK will be here to report.
