Taco Bell Unveils Strategic Overhaul

IRVINE, CA - Taco Bell has always been a fan favorite, whether it be midday lunchtime or midnight snacking. The brand has made big strides as a fresh produce incorporator, and now it is continuing to redefine the quick service restaurant (QSR) industry by rolling out plans for a new restaurant concept.

Mike Grams, President and Global Chief Operating Officer, Taco Bell“With demand for our drive-thru at an all-time high, we know adapting to meet our consumers rapidly changing needs has never been more important,” said President and Global COO Mike Grams in a recent press release. “The Taco Bell Go Mobile restaurant concept is not only an evolved physical footprint but a completely synchronized digital experience centered around streamlining guest access points. For the first time, our guests will have the ability to choose the pick-up experience that best fits their needs, all while never leaving the comfort of their cars.”

The new concept, dubbed Taco Bell Go Mobile, is a merging of technological advancements, innovative operations, and a people-first approach. This allows Taco Bell to push the boundaries of the QSR customer experience even further with the addition of several digital features. Built with today's consumer in mind, the evolved restaurant is specifically designed for guests to order ahead through the brand’s mobile app and enjoy the Taco Bell experience in a frictionless way.

The brand’s Go Mobile restaurant, the first of which will open in Q1 of 2021, features five main updates targeted for digital adoption to improve the customer experience:

  • Minimization
  • Dual Drive-Thru
  • Synchronized Digital Experience
  • Curbside Pick-Up
  • Bellhops

While the first Taco Bell Go Mobile restaurant is still a few months away from opening, the brand has already begun incorporating some of its new features in existing restaurants.

The news comes after the foodservice giant announced its menu will undergo a change. In another press release, Taco Bell announced it will be clearing space on its menus to adapt to current consumer needs during the pandemic.

The company recommended consumers not to “forget to look out for the vegetarian symbol on menus to indicate vegetarian products” as it continues to shape its veg-friendly image.
